A fabulous night of celebrations was held in the school last night Thursday, the 18th May, when Magh Ene College hosted its annual awards night. Student achievements in a wide range of areas were recognised. Award categories on the night included; Academic Excellence, Full attendance, Health-Promoting School committee, Personality Award, prefects, Young Scientist and Scifest, Magh Ene College Choir, Magh Ene College Book Club committee, An Rás essay competition, Creative writing, AIB Build a Bank, Entrepreneur of the Year, Development Education Award, Film awards, ETB Awards, Hospitality, Positive Role Model, Subject Awards, Gaisce President’s Award, International Conference Speakers, Seachtain na Gaeilge, Girls Active, Most Diligent and Cooperative Student, Student of the Year, Boys’ Gaelic, Girls Gaelic, Basketball, Girls’ Rugby, Active Schools and Athletics.
Magh Ene College was delighted to welcome back past pupil Niall McGonigle, winner of the third-level European Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, to present awards on the night. Niall presented Transition Year student Katie McGloin, this year’s national winner of the second-level Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, with her award.
We wish to thank Gaye McGoldrick from AIB for addressing the crowd and presenting awards on the night. AIB have worked with Magh Ene College through-out the year on the Build A Bank initiative which our TY students are involved in, under the guidance of their business teacher Mrs. McSharry.
Thanks also to Mr. Michael McMahon and Mrs. Martina McGee who also presented awards to the students. Well done to all the students who won awards on the night and their families – all your hard work has paid off!
