Irish Language singing workshop

A great afternoon was had by all the second year students who participated in an Irish language singing workshop on Tuesday, 23rd October. The event was organised to mark the end of Bliain na Gaeilge 2018. The students learnt and performed two popular modern songs – “Léim isteach as ngluaisteán” (Shotgun) and “Amhrán an fhómhair” (September song). Ms Suzanne Byrne from ‘Stars of the West’ stage school put the students through their paces and choreographed the two routines. A massive thanks to the musicians Conor Clancy, Maitiu Tierney, Ben Costello and Ruairí McGloin and also to Dervla Carr, Danielle McNern, Jack McGloin, Grace Bradley, Rebecca McGuinness, Sineire Boyd McMahon, Matthew McGeever, Cealum McMahon and Leonard for all the help they gave making this event possible. The students thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and had great fun using Irish in a fun way. Last but not least, a huge thanks to the múinteoirí Mrs Fitzgerald and Ms. McGinley for all their hard work ensuring the students were well versed in the lyrics.
