Transition Year students from Magh Ene College took part in the ‘Sky Sports Living for Sport’ programme today in the National Arena in Dublin. This programme is part of the Sky Academy, a unique set of initiatives that uses the power of TV, creativity and sport to give opportunities for up to one million young people to build skills, experience and self-belief. Today’s event involved 300 secondary school children, from 15 Irish schools, who won the opportunity to attend through a nation-wide competition..
The programme involved developing the key skills, experience and self-belief of the students through a series of sessions and activities (based on the 6 keys to success) and was run by the Sky Sports Living for Sport (SSLFS) Athlete Mentors, supported by Sky staff. During the day students had the opportunity to hear from Katie Taylor and meet Gordon D’arcy and Darren Campbell. Well done to all involved and a special thanks to PE teacher Ms. McLaughlin and Mr. Dorrian who accompanied the students on this very worthwhile trip which was highly enjoyed by all!!
